你好!我回来了~ Welcome to my first post on my food category. I have been a fan of good food ever since, growing up in a family of good cooks. While I am not a picky eater, I always know how to appreciate and distinguish good food. Taiwanese cuisine is part of the diverse spectrum of Chinese food. We find Taiwanese cuisine with light flavors, unlike the Chinese food we're used to in the Philippines. Their food is not bland, rather something you want to try as an introduction to more Chinese food flavors. Taiwanese food is different and unique from typical Chinese food. In this post, I am sharing with you my favorite restaurants/ food in Taipei.
Din Tai FungA Taipei itinerary staple. Signature Taiwanese Michelin-starred restaurant with locations around the world. Famous for its 小笼包 xiao long bao, a.k.a. soup dumplings. In-house chefs/ cooks make their noodles and dumplings fresh in-store (you can watch them while you wait for your order through the kitchen's glass window. Where we ate: Din Tai Fung Taipei 101 Branch, B1, No. 45 (We dined at their Taipei 101 branch because it was the most accessible location for us at that time. We were pretty lazy to queue at their original location, Xinyi Road, considering that there will be more customers.)
Er Tou Tang
What's RunA Taiwanese street food chain. They have so many stalls that we get to see one every street or corner. Talk about forest encircles city strategy, hahaha! Anyway, I highly recommend this shop. I am very nostalgic as their chicken tastes like Sharetea (also a Taiwanese milk tea brand). Where we ate: Tamsui Ride the MTR to Tamsui Station R28 (end of the red line aka Tamsui-Xinyi Line). Go out of the station, then turn left. We ate from so many stalls at Tamsui, and it was the best sunset moment by the sea. There's like a huge street market so you can walk further.
Writing this from my home makes me miss traveling overseas more. Being on airplane mode throughout the trip, I like the feeling of being away from the hustle back at home. It will take time for us to travel like this again, having the pandemic crippling my country and college-med school waving at me around the corner. Our plans of traveling also impact our vaccination preference and decision— just thinking about the vaccine brands accepted by other countries upon entry. I am ending my post here. Please say hi to me in the comments below. I'll see you in my next post. 再见。
