It feels surreal stepping on the land of kimchi, kpop, kdramas, oppas and skincare. It's been my dream ever since to visit Seoul. The Hallyu wave is so real that I've been swept by it too.
There is more to Korea though. Seeing their different palaces, museums and other cultural and heritage sites, I'm at loss for words how they managed to preserve their rich and diverse culture.
We booked our tour through a travel agency in Manila which our relatives and some family friends recommended. It's pretty much hassle-free because everything's basically arranged for us. The only downside is that they love bringing us into amethyst factory, ginseng, red pine tree shops and the like which could really be expensive.
The first two days in Seoul were the worst. Seoul was literary a huge fridge and we were freezing inside it. Damn, we were not informed about the 3-degree weather. I was really expecting a cool (not freezing) weather since it's already spring and April. The result: we didn't have decent pictures (tsktsk).
With only three hours of sleep, we were ready to brave the cold weather the next day.
The places we just visited were very beautiful. It makes me want to comeback to Korea again. Even though the weather wasn't cooperating, we enjoyed and we learned from our faults (mental note: bring coats next time).
Everland is the place to go especially when you're feeling like tita. The entire place is literally a garden! There were stores where you could shop (LINE Friends, Puma and Monami to name a few). Their souvenirs and merch were super aegyo (Koreans are into cute things). It's like Disneyland for titas (the way I describe it). The place also gives you a vibe of Petit France or maybe the houses on children's books. Also, I highly recommend to wear comfortable shoes because the amusement park is literally on the mountain.
I've realized that I wasn't able to buy some albums and merch in Seoul but on the brighter side, I had a great time there.
So, have you guys visited Seoul already? How was your experience? If not, what are looking forward for? Let me know!
